The Oldest Form of Self-Respect

Before wellness became an industry.
Before fragrance became fashion.
Before self-care became a trend.

There was the ritual.

The simple act of caring for the body.

Water.
Soap.
Time.

Across generations, cultures, and homes, these rituals have remained. Not because they are extraordinary, but because they are essential.

The care of the body has never been a trend.

It has always been a form of respect.

Sabun exists within that tradition.

Not to reinvent it, but to honour it.

Not by changing it.

By remembering it.

the hours

Every ritual belongs to a moment.

Morning asks one thing of us.

Evening asks another.

One prepares us for the world.

The other returns us to ourselves.

Dawn.

Day.

Dusk.

Night.

Each with its own rhythm.

Each with its own character.

Each deserving its own ritual.

A reminder that time is not something to be managed.

It is something to be experienced.

the house

Some objects serve a function.

Others become part of a way of life.

Different expressions.

The same belief.

That care deserves intention.

That quality should be felt rather than announced.

That rituals are worth protecting.

A house built not around products,

but around the practice of living well.

The Current Caretaker

Some traditions survive because they remain useful.

Others survive because they remain meaningful.

Sabun is guided today by Maximilian, the current caretaker of a family soapmaking tradition dating back two centuries.

The tradition behind Sabun began in 1840, when soapmaking formed part of a broader culture of hospitality, ritual, and care. Over generations, those values were passed forward not as a business model, but as a way of life.

Today, Maximilian's role is not to preserve the past unchanged, nor to chase novelty for its own sake. It is to carry forward what remains essential while allowing it to find relevance in the present.

The result is Sabun.
A modern ritual house rooted in the belief that caring for oneself is one of the oldest forms of self-respect.

The products may evolve.

The ritual remains.
